To my children:
I can deal with the fact that you use the pencils on my desk for art.
But why oh why can't you sharpen them if they get dull?
I have 11 pencils with barely a nub left. And I can't sharpen them NOW, when I need them at midnight, because the guest room/office is right next to your room, so the electric sharpener would wake you up.
ARG!
A turn-handle manual pencil sharpener does the trick silently as well or better than an electric sharpener (which is inclined to eat up the pencil).
